Koyosha Graphics Provides Quark, Inc. with Special Edition Version of
Enhance Preview XT 2.1.4
-Display Enhancing extension for QuarkXPress 4.04 available for download from www.quark.com-
San Francisco, Calif., (Seybold, August 30, 1999) - Koyosha Graphics of America, Inc. (KGA), the developer of imaging solutions for the desktop publishing market, today announced the availability of a special edition version of their commercially available Enhance Preview XT 2.1.4, the 4.0-native display enhancing XTensions module for QuarkXPress. This special edition version, EPXT-SE 2.1.4, provides unparalleled high-resolution image previews and full support for the new clipping path capabilities within QuarkXPress 4.0. This lite version is available for download from www.quark.com, and will be demonstrated along with the full product during Seybold from August 30 – September 2, 1999 at the Quark, Inc. booth #1525.

"We’ve made a lite version of the 4.0-optimized EPXT available, free of charge, to QuarkXPress users so they may experience the dynamic benefits of our display enhancement technology," said Mark Sangster, product manager for KGA. "We’re confident that users will immediately see the benefits of the exceptional image display quality, and will be interested enough to explore the expanded capabilities of the full product. EPXT-SE is guaranteed to augment any workflow."

"The combination of the Enhance Preview XT-Special Edition and the new clipping path functions in QuarkXPress are a natural," said Don Lohse, QuarkXPress product manager at Quark, Inc. "Getting higher resolution previews of pictures makes working with the paths a lot easier and much more precise."

EPXT-SE 2.1.4 enables graphic designers and production artists to view high-resolution previews of their images without pixellation. Additionally, users can zoom in up to 800% on their images and still be provided with Photoshop quality previews, ensuring greater accuracy and creativity when placing, cropping, aligning and scaling. EXPT-SE 2.1.4 also offers precise editing of clipping paths in QuarkXPress 4.0 for either imported images that contain clipping paths, or paths created using the new clipping options.

This special edition version offers the key capabilities of the full product version. It provides the improved color accuracy when viewing separated images, image enhancement (although on a single image basis), and the ability to apply smoothing to the enhanced preview to reduce the pixel artifacts when viewing documents at high zoom magnifications or images that have been transformed. EPXT-SE 2.1.4 allows immediate access to these
features using a simplified floating palette. EPXT-SE 2.1.4 also offers enhancement for all standard pixel-based file formats supported by QuarkXPress or image import filters, such as TIFF, EPS, DCS, JPEG and
Scitex CT.

The full version of EPXT 2.1.4 goes beyond the special edition version by enabling users to display all pictures in a document using enhanced previews—now users can soft proof entire documents, at any time, prior to output. The full version also provides automatic generation of enhanced previews during import, or can enhance images already placed in a document either selectively or using a batch process. Additionally, all enhance preview cache files can be stored in a user-specified folder, allowing immediate removal of all cache files, or automatic removal when a user specified limit is exceeded. The full version also adds the ability to sharpen enhanced previews using custom settings to improve screen captures or pages exported as TIFF, EPS or HTML. Finally, EPXT 2.1.4 allows users to customize preferences for assigning user-defined keyboard shortcuts to all commands and to control the display quality and file sizes of the enhanced previews using JPEG compression.
